458 lott loads
« on: August 04, 2008, 02:32:48 AM »
Has anyone used IMR4320 or RL12 in there reloads for their 458 Lott? I've used IMR4320 85grs for the 500 bullet. It groups 3/4" at 100 yds with three bullets. Vel. is with Solids 2320 FPS and with SP 2266 FPS. I haven't
Used RL12 but would like to try it. Has anyone else tried it?

I would have to say that getting 3/4" groups with a 1/2" wide bullet is pretty nice!

Thanks corbanzo,  I shot that 458 lott with no scope off sand bags at 100 yds and my group was 3 to 4 inches. So then I purchased a scope and put it on and shot a three shot group and it was 3/4" group. Its amaizing what a scope can do.

I want to see what RL12 can do. I have some of this Powder on order. Just thought that someone might have already tried it.

I haven't tried RL-12, But I have used WW 748, IMR 4895 and AAC 2520. However IMR 4320 is my favorite, and the powder Jack Lott recomended. I have several old articles by him. I had my Lott made up by the late Dick Nickels of Ridgetop Sporting Goods in Washington state, back in 1992. It was the first one he had ever done in that caliber. If anyone else had a Lott made by him I would like to know, as I supplied him with the chamber reamer. I don't want to give any powder charges as my gun will take substantially heavier charges than normally recommended.
