16ga Savage Fox Model B custom slug gun
« on: August 02, 2008, 03:38:54 PM »
I just picked this neat little smoothbore up from gunbroker.  It should be here by the end of the week.  The description from the auction says
"its a Savage Fox Model B in 16 gauge which someone has done a nice job of turning into a double slug gun.The barrels measure 18 1/4", and as you can see, they've had a front sight and rear quarter rib installed. I believe those are Warne rings on the rib, which is secured to the barrel rib with 4 screws. It all seems to be well done and we've test fired it in our snail trap for function but have no idea how accurate it is, and we can unfortunately no longer ask the fellow who built it. Buttstock has a Pachmayr Trap pad, and a 14 1/4" length of pull from front trigger."
It looks like a cool little gun to me.  I have not found many slug types for a 16ga yet.  Do any of you guys have any recomendations?  I MAY have screw in tubes installed depending on how it patterns the way it is.  I wish Dixie made the Tri-Ball load in 16ga.  Any thoughts?
This is the day that the Lord hath made!!  I will rejoice and be glad in it!!

Brenneke and Federal both make 16ga slugs that are reasonable priced.  Nice looking gun.  Please, let us know how it shoots...
