I had to take my wife into the city today to go to the hospital,while I was waiting I stopped off at the biggist gunshop in town,I already have a couple of Mausers both swedish 96 in 6.5x55 one sporter and one original.
I was thinking of buying a 98 but while looking I got to wondering just how many different mausers are there and how many different countys are there to collect from.And what is considered the best of the lot.My two
are by Carl Gussstaff and mauser werks.

Jack,
More Mausers than you could ever count on yer 10 fingers an toes! I think if you start with the current WWI and WWII 8mm german and axis countries you could probably get a fist full in no time. Then there's all the contract jobs made for the middle east and South American/Spanish varieties....you see what I mean? Pick up a copy of Shotgun News and look around.

Jacknz : Well you have 12 then you have to multiply all the different countries that manu. them the actions I have come up with are the 71 & 71/84 & 88 &89 & 90 & 91 & 92 &93 & 94 & 95 & 96 & 98 I could have missed a few and if I have and anyone knows which one please jump in and let us know.

WOW,Thanks guys I can see this is going to get interesting.For now I am only looking for a good action for a custom deer rifle but you know how things get.LOL
