Vintage Bamboo Fly Rods
« on: July 27, 2003, 04:48:52 PM »
I've grown tired of making and carving gunstocks after all these years and have found a new and interesting hobby.  Restoring old bamboo rods is a real time consumer but the finished product it well worth the effort.  I refinsh the rods to be used not merely admired.   There is nothing like the feel of fine bamboo!  Interested in sharing information with those who share the interest on Vintage cane rods.  Always looking for rebuildable  or parts rods as well.

God Bless and keep you safe and sound!

Well, I'd like to say this is all I fish but I do have a Sage 8wt and just got a T&T 4wt 7' for less than a blem blank would have cost. That was what I was looking for when I found that deal.

I do mostly fish a SB or Heddon but also have a Monte and a Steve Blake built rod that uses a Leonard taper. It's a 6'3" 3wt but it worked out to be a 4wt. It just won't load with a 3. It's great on the little streams nearby. No bass with it yet but it's great on stocked trout and bluegills.

I'd love to learn to build and/or restore them but I have little enough time as it is.
