I have a SB2 Handi-Ultra barrel in 25-06 that has never ejected reliably. This is my third experience with handis, and they have all had ejection problems. The 25-06 is a tackdriver, but the ejector fails to reach the extractor groove in the cartridge. I have polished the chamber, put a BB behind spring, polished parts. I think that the ejector latch, (piece that the two pins go thru) isn't tall enough. I might be wrong. I called to try and get a new one, but the Rem. people said I would have to go to Numrich as it was a discontinued part. I believe that the same part is used on all the shotguns, but that was their story.
My advice is to steer clear of non-rimmed rounds in the handi, and even then I myself wouldn't trust the extraction or ejection. I was going to purchase a .500 S&W barrel for a bear hunt, but with a poor design, and poor customer service, I've had it. I refuse to peddle this rifle off on someone the way a Greybeard regular did to me, so if you can help, please do so.
Thanks
Woody
