Anyone tried Winchester White box .22-250 ammo?
« on: July 27, 2003, 07:04:48 AM »
Has anyone shot the Winchester white box .22-250 ammo loaded with the 45 gr HP?  Was wondering how accurate it was, realizing of course, that every rifle is different....
Regards,

Tom

Tom,  with the cost of certain brands and caliber of ammo being very reasonable,  I have found myself getting lazy and not reloading as much as I used to.  I shoot a lot of 22-250 have been finding good deals at gun shows here in California .
I have been doing a lot of informal long range shooting at steel discs, and have shot quite a bit of the Winchester ammo.  Since hitting the target is the objective and not groups, I've found it more than acceptable and the price right. When punching paper,  I've been able to get some groups just under one moa with most up around 1.5 moa.  Again, take in to account different guns and shooters.  I have not had any feeding, firing, extracting, or ejection problems.

I've shot them through my Win model 70 Stealth and they will group .50 @ 100yds. I've used them on both rabbits and squirrels and they definitely get the job done. And at 14.00/box at gunshows they don't break the bank and you get good brass for handloading. A friend of mine will not shoot them out of his Rem vssf any more because they just don't shoot well out of his rifle.
