Camping fees
« on: July 04, 2008, 04:59:37 AM »
I just found out our camp site for deer season jumped from 15 bucks a night to 20. >:(

I also heard a rumor that by deer season it may go up to 35. :o

I can't wait for Blajagovich to be gone, I'm tired of seeing the dnr dept gutted every time they need to find money for "social programs", we need to encourage people to use the state parks not discourage their use. For a couple of bucks more I can stay at a cheap motel. We've been going to the same place for 20 years and see some of the same people all the time, got to be friends with some of them, look forward to ribbing the "hillbillies" and getting called "yankees" by them. ;D

First the check in stations go away and now they're making it too expensive to camp, that combined with the gun laws here it's getting to the point where I'm thinking of moving out of Illinois.

Sorry, I needed to rant.

Don't worry about it! By the time deer season gets here gas & food prices will be so high we will working at least 20 hours a day 7 days a week and won't have time for that stuff.

Now when we finally save up enough for the gas to get there - we won't be able to afford to camp there.

Sadly enough, it's not what you can do for someone these day's but rather what you can charge them for it. It is pretty bad when the State park systems do this though...I was at one yesterday and they looked to be behind on the trash cans & fire pit cleanups. They are making enough money but Rod is sending it elsewhere and has cut back on some of the DNR jobs. Rod doesn't care as long as he can ride in that airplane on a daily basis from Chicago to Springfield...when they can get him into Springfield that is.
