450 marlin
« on: July 23, 2003, 02:42:21 PM »
I am looking at a short range fast action rifle for boar, javelina hunting. I hit on the Marlin site and they touted the 450 as their most powerful cal.
My sierra manual # 5 shows no cal. Does anyone have some input?
I would really like to check out a pump in high power but I assume Rem has the only slide action around.

I have a 1895M, If you reload it doesn't really matter if you get the 450 or the 45/70. They can both be loaded equally. It's defininitely a thumper.  KN

Browning has come out with the 450M in their BLR.  Since it uses a detachable box magazine rather than a tube you'll have a wider choice of bullet types if you reload for it.
