« on: July 23, 2003, 08:46:11 AM »
Hi, All those who know the pros and cons, please give me some input.  I am a first time handgun purchaser, and I have come to these two firearms.  Please give the the pro's and cons if you know the difference between these two wonderful pieces.

Thanks in advance

I've had a KP 95 for a few years. No FTF or FTE at all. It eats anything that you feed it. The accuracy is quite good for a defensive pistol. The  P95 also takes standard capacity magazines, ie. 15 rounds. I did put a Hogue Hand All slip on grip on it. This improves the feel of the grip and aids in holding the handgun while firing it. BTW, Ruger tested these weapons with over 20,000 rounds of +P+ ammo, so they are durable.  Many 9mm handguns can't handle this ammo, or the +P stuff, for that matter. One more thing, Ruger has a $40 rebate on these right now. The savings are nice, and they can buy you some extra ammo. MI VHNTR

The XD series has additional safety features which is a positive.  The smaller xd's are concealable and well built.  I own an XD-40 and prefered it over a Sig 229.  Negative is magazine capacity.

Don't know much about the XD other than it got twice as expensive after Springfield started importing it. I bought a KP95DC for my wife to use in IDPA about 10yrs ago. It has since had THOUSANDS of rounds run thru it, mostly lead reloads. It has seen heavy usage as a loaner at matches. This gun has never had a malfunction of any kind! I have pistols costing five times as much that cannot boast this level of performance.

I woudlnt trade my KP95DC for an H&K, a Glock, or a Sig etc etc etc.

As was stated in an above post, it has never failed to function. It is accurate- I had an opportunity to shoot my 95 alongside the above mentioned 9mm's and I'll keep my Ruger. Cant beat the price with a stick.

As was also mentioned in an above post it really needs the Hand all grip. That polymer frame can get slippery if you have sweaty hands.
