Only Two Lever Guns...Which?

Pleasant Great Day to all.
Here's the question: if you could only have two lever guns, which calibers and make would you choose? My choice would be a pre-64 Winchester model 94 chambered for the venerable .30-30 (30 WCF). I absolutely love the rifle and the cartridge. The second would be the .45-70, and the rifle would be a tie between the Marlin Guide Gun and the Browning model 1886 carbine.

My first choice would be a Savage Model 99 (late "EG" model with the schnoble forearm) in .300 Savage that I already own and use when hunting deer out of my hunting buddy's cozy cabin among the mountain laurel in the Moshannon State Forest on the High Plateau in North-Central in Pennsylvania.

#2 would be a pre-'64 Model 94 Winchester in .30/30... because the rifle and the caliber are such a lever-action icon and an American tradition.

Rifleman:  I would have to go with a Savage 99f in 300 Savage with a weaver 1.5x5 in flip over mounts then I guess a Marlin in 44 mag. :D   JIM

Browning 1886, my prefrences run more to the rifle than carbine, 45/70 of course.  If I must be limited to only two, then I absolutely cannot choose between many others

Already have the them (when my oldest daughter is not using them):

The first is an old Sears M100 (aka Win 94) 30-30 WCF with very nice wood and smooth action.  Sights are a Lyman receiver sight.  
The second is a Savage 99f 308 Win. with 4x scope in tip off mounts and a Lyman tang sight.

Both handle very well and fulfill their intended roles perfectly.  The only thing that could make the 99f better is if it was chambered in 358 Win, but the 308 handles anything we might hunt....RW

Sorry!  I need at least 3.

The rifles are the BLR short action in .358 Winchester, the Savage 99 in .308 Winchester and the Winchester 88 in .284 Winchester.  Other cartridges that have been chambered in these rifles that I'd like to have are any of the above three mixed and matched, as well as .250 Savage, .257 Roberts and .300 Savage.

I once got to work up loads for Commodore Robert Peary's Winchester 1886 in .40-82 Winchester.  He had killed several polar bears with it, including one so close it slid up to his feet.  It was astonishingly accurate.  His great-grandson showed me a target with a 2 inch group, and then said that he had adjusted the sights while shooting the group.  That's one.
The second would be a Marlin 36 made in the early 50's with Ballard rifling and a half magazine. It had a knurled-top receiver and a half magazine.  I thought $150 was too much for it at the time.

:idea3: The first would be a Winchester pre-64 Model 94 in .30-.30 Winchester. I've had the thing for what seems like forever. Not much bluing left from use in a saddle scabbard.

Second lever action would be my Marlin 1895 Ltd V in .45-70. It holds alot of rounds of appropriate size for anything that moves in the western hemisphere.

If I could sneak in a third, I'd add my Marlin 1894CCL in .41Magnum. It's got Ballard rifling and is really accurate with lead bullets.  RKBA! :bye:

I'd have to go with my Guide Gun 45-70 and my Belguim BLR .308. even though I never shot a more natural feeling gun than my 10 shot Marlin lever .44mag with AO peep sight.  I have taken two running deer both at 45 or 50 yds with it and dropped them both dead on the spot. Would make a heck of a self defence carbine, too.

I would be hard pressed to keep just two, but for the sake of this fictional scenario, I would keep my 1880's vintage Marlin 1881, chambered for .45-70, and my other 1881 Marlin Schuetzen rifle in .40-60 Marlin.

I would prefer my Winchester pre-64 30/30, but since my eyes aren't as good, I might go with the new traditional model 30/30 & tang safety with scope.

2nd choice Winchester 88 in .243.  It might be a good one to bring back.

The first would be a Savage M99 in .308 Winchester with a rotary magazine and a Leupold 1.5x5 Vari X III.  The other would be a late model Marlin 444 with the 1-20" twist barrel

Fatcatbuster:  Yes you can.  You can do it.  I looked at the original question and he didn't say anything about how many you could have (in each hand).  That might limit ya'll to 3 er 4, depending on how many ya'll kin hold at once but, ifin ya'll hold them by the levers you kin prolly up the ante to about 8.  Whew, I'm sure glad I looked back at the original post.  I may have been (more) confoosed if I hadn't.

This is sort of like when the proscutor says:  Mr. Mikey - did you or did you not......  an Mr. Mikey says:  Ummm, kin ya'll axe jes one question at a time.

I'd probably go with my Win 88 in .308, and my Browning BL-22 gr 2.
Although there's the 80 year old 94 32 spl, or the 94-22, or I've always wanted a 1886 45-70, a Finnwolf would be great too.  God I hope I win the lottery.

Marlin for both, 336 30/30 and 1895ss 45/70. Of course I love the 35 rem just as much as the 30/30 but in a pinch, the 30/30 ammo will be easier to find.

BLR's in 308 and 223.  No, wait.  BLR in 257 and Win 92 rifle in 44-40.  No...  My Browning 95 in 30-06 with Marbles tang sight and Browning 86 full rifle.  Maybe, my Marlin model 444 and 9422, or my two Marlin CL's.  Early Win 94 44mag custom...  Never mind, I can't get by with just two.

Marlin '94 in .357 (Gosh, am I a cowboy shooter or what?) and the Marlin 336 in .32 Winchester Special (....was my Dad's and still my favorite for hunting)!

My Winnie '94 in 30-30 is a fine, dependable rifle, but my '92 Rossi Puma in .45LC is a real track driver and slicker than pomade on a doorknob.  Guess I'd have to go with those and toss the Henry .22.  Wait a minute!  Let me think this over.....
