Start small and work up, you can always make it bigger, but not smaller!! ;D Target apertures start at around .022", the smallest I've used is .050".

  Thanks Tim;
  That is what I planned to do, but I wanted the input of one with more experience than I, and among a couple others here, that's you...
   I have a copy of the WGRS on the rifle, except it is a dovetail and plastic. It works well but I think a peep would be better..

   I don't have a Mic, but I am starting with a 3/32 " drill and going bigger if necessary..

That's pretty big to start with, it's .09375", I'd start with a 1/16", .0625" and see how ya like it, depends a lot on lighting conditions you'll be shooting under, I think my hunting apertures are .120" and even then I tend to like ghost rings better, but for range/target work, the smaller the better. Aim small, miss small!!  ;D

Thanks Tim, I'll try 1/16" first and see how it comes out..

I thought the WGRS was a peep, the RS being reciever site. I used one on a Marlin years ago, mounted it on the two back scope mount holes, had to modify it to make it fit, but it made a great site that looked a lot more sturdy to my eye than the typical "L" shaped reciever site. There wasn't any plastic on that sight.

Bilmac;
  guess I wasn't quite clear enough ! The sight I have on hand is a plastic COPY of the WGRS..with the exception ..that it is a dovetail instead of a peep sight, as is the
  real WGRS.
    Since I already have it on hand, I am trying to adapt it !

I bought the WRGS I put it on a shotgun....The ghost ring sight is close to 3/16" but the sight that came with it is close to a 1/16" aperture which i found great for 50 yard shots....The ghost ring was way too big for me.... I used a 3/32" diameter front bead and it almost completely covers a 6" target at 50 yards...These parts I ordered from Midway to work on my H&R shotgun....The front sight was a little too short for the gun but it was only  2" high at 50 yards...

  Thanks guys;
   i wanted a nice, round aperture base, so I used a head to a Federal .22 LR..center drilled it and super-glued, finished with a Birchwood casey marker.
   ..will post after I sight it in..
