Crankbait Setups
« on: June 01, 2008, 04:32:26 AM »
Hello everyone...

i'm wondering what everyones crankbait setups are out there?  i'm currently using a Berkley Bionix Crankbait, 7' M e-glass rod with an Abu Torno 3003 reel on it.  but lately i've been throwing some Bandit 100's and similarly small cranks, and found its more comfortable and easier to cast them further on a spinning setup.  since i've always been cranking on glass rods, its hard for me to crank on graphite.  anyone know of a good glass spinning rod for cranking?

I use graphite rods 6.5 to 7.5 feet in length with fireline. I go back on forth between various Rapala Shadraps and Longcast lures. I use Shimano 2000 reels mostly.

I recently bumped up to 6' and 7' rods so i could cast farther from shore.  And i went with stronger line too after losing larger bass too.  I jinx'd my fishing for sure plus my back hurts with the longer rods.

My point is crankbait fishing is number one with me thats what i use the most of.  My favorite lures are the Bomber Fat A in red apple craw,  Rebel BIG Claw in green (crawfish) and a Norman Thin "N" in red too.

I use a shimano calcutta 100's with Falcon 7 ' lowriders #5 action with 10# suffix seige for all of my deep cranking and Shimano Chronarch MG 50 with a 7' Falcon expert in medium hvy action, 17# suffix seige for all of my shallow cranking.
