I can buy a NEW NEF Handi-Rifle in 30-06 with a Synthetic stock for $219 plus tax. Is that a good deal?

Yep. Paid more than that for mine several years ago. Not good for used, but great for new.

Naw, thats a rotten deal.  Better tell me where it is so I can straighten the guy out. ;)  They now go for about $249.95 everywhere around me except Wally-world.  They are 10-12 dollars cheaper, but they want to record every transaction on tape now and that just rubs me wrong. >:(   Get tired of someone looking over my shoulder all the time to make sure I don't do anything that they may not like.  My parents did a good job of raising me, and 6 years active duty helped some too.  I got a family of 10 that I support with the help of my wonderful wife and pay plenty of taxes to boot.  Sorry, got carried away there, but that has me a little PO'ed.  I'll get off it now, again sorry. :-[  DP.

It is through DICKS SPORTING GOODS. I have a $10 off coupon for a firearm and planned on buying one.

That is what I paid for mine also, it too came from Dicks .  If they have in stock you are lucky, I had to wait bout 6 weeks for mine.  Not sure why though, the supplier they got it from had it in stock.

You guys are getting some great prices from Dicks. Here in MI they want $300.00 for a standard everyday .22-250 Handi. I will never buy one from the Dicks by my house. They have actually had this rifle on their shelf for darn near a year too.

I priced a 44 mag at two different places they both wanted $300 for the pallet wood ones.:o One of the stores got in a special run of synthetic stocked 44 mags with the SB2 frame for $249.99 - I bought one. The bottom line - I think you did OK.

Yeah,  that's a real good deal.  I bought my .223 Handi,  w/synthetic stock,  brand new last year.  It cost me $270.00 OTD.
