Grices Gun Shop 7600 Specials for 2008
« on: May 05, 2008, 06:42:26 AM »
Just called Grices to check availability of a 700 CDL in 35 Whelen for my brother. Yes he is a bolt guy. $550.00 by the way.

Anyway I asked if they are working on the 7600 special runs yet. He said yes. Maple stocks most likely unknown caliber.  Calibers being considered, 6mm, 284 Winchester,  358 Winchester or other classic caliber. That's all he would give me. Well you heard it first here. MIKE.

Has not grice taken enough of my money?
But the 7600 in 358 win would be interesting, don't know what I'd do with it but that is beside the point

I agree. Although I owned several rifles I hunted exclusively for over twenty years with a Remington 742 and when it wore out with a 7400 that I bought during  Remington's trade in program. Shortly after finding this site and this forum in 2002 the madness began.

I now own 7600's in .35 Remington Carbine, .35 Whelen, .257 Roberts (sold a 7600 in 25-06 with the gray laminate stock to support this purchase), 7mm-08 and a 30-06 carbine (sons).

I have killed two good bucks and two does with the .35 Remington carbine. I killed one spike buck with the .35 Whelen. Only carried the .257 in the woods once and only scoped the 7mm-08 after the season closed. My son due to school only hunted with his new rifle once.

The .35 Remington carbine is my new go to gun. Love the way it feels and handles in the woods. The 358 Winchester would only interest me if it was in a carbine model. Does the 358 need a longer barrel to maximise it's full potential?

Always thought I would buy the Remington 750 Woodsmaster in .35 Whelen carbine but since I have become used to the light weight pump and the fact that many complain that the 750 is not reliable I don't know any more.

MIKE.

I burn the 35rem in a marlin , the 358 win should do well in a carbine , make for a nice moose gun or elk in the woods

they do sell alot of guns , not as busy as they used to be during the sale but I think there was some panic buying this time also , boo hoo to the to factory reps they have there during that time , often you can get them to give you freebies.

How does that 308 shoot??

It shoots really well. So far the best load has been a factory load, 180 gr. federal fusions. Three shots in the same hole. Have'nt worked up a handload that shoots as good.

Well thats certainly very good esp considering the gun used , no offense , I only say that because I have met many who feel those guns don't have the required accuracy they should , personally I think they shoot as well as they need to and certainly capable of shooting accurate enough out further than most people actually kill their game

Most of the 7600/760's I've seen will shoot right along with a good bolt action. I think the inaccuracy thing comes from improper cleaning methods. Such as letting the cleaning rod touch the crown of the barrel.

the .358 and .284 really interest me but , would the .284 work in it ??? it has that rebated rim and is a little wide .  i really like the look of the maple stocks too .

There's a guy on another forum that had a 7mm-08 rechambered to .284 and has no problems with it.

Dunno about semi and pumps in 284 since the rounds may not fit into the standard magazine. I had a Ruger 77 rechambered from 7mm-08 to .284 Win and it is a fine shooting unit now.

No new news as far as I know.

I thought about it and I would buy a 358 Carbine, 25-06 or a 6MM. I would buy a maple in anything except 30-06 most likely.

I really had the hots for the 750 carbine in 35 Whelen. But after hearing all of the complaints not so hot now.

I killed my two best bucks ever with the 35 Remington Carbine but I would like something with a little more horsepower but still in carbine.

More a want not a need.

MIKE.

I emailed them two weeksago no answer.  ???

Got tired of waiting so I bought a 6mm NIB with the enhanced receiver from gunbroker for a decent price, $630.00 a few weeks ago.

Saw several in 6mm and 25-06 go for over $750.

Still want a 358 Winchester. If they don't do one this year I will start to look for a 35 Remington to rechamber next year.

Called Grices yesterday. Got a very friendly female voice. She said she did not heard of any new 7600 but that the flier is coming out this week and if there were any new specials they would be in the flier.

So I signed up for the flier. We will see what happens when the flier comes out.
