I can't give you a bullet proof answer to your question and I just got done looking over Browning's site and they don't mention anything in regards to your question either. However,my new Browning A-Bolt micro hunter in 7mm-08 is a true short action so I would hardly doubt that they would change that design in the newer X-Bolt model. That,of course,is just my thought and like I said,I do not know for sure. I'd give them a quick call if somebody here doesn't already know the answer.

I would have to say yes----both long and short actions have 22'' barrels---yet the overall length of the short actions is smaller.
