Frame coloration

Is the color case hardened finish as seen on the BC been offered as an option on other frames?   If those metal trigger guards every develop, that might be a sharp addition.  I don't recall seeing that finish offered on other frames.   Is it possible to have that finish applied aftermarket?

Will that bow kill an elk?     Sure.....but arrows are much more effective.

The older H&Rs were either case colored or nickle plated. I have an old H&R Shikari from the 1970's with a color cased reciever but it also looks like it was finished with a 40 grit sanding disk. ;D  After H&R became NEF they went to blued recievers and improved the finish to more like 60 grit. ;D

Sadly, the part about the grit size is all too true. lol

I intend to buff out a couple of mine then either case color them by a pro and/or silver(over nickel/copper) plate them.   The silver one(s) will have a mirror finish when done.

Obviously H&R could offer a case hardened frame in other models besides the BC if they chose, heck even TC has a custom option for that finish.   Why not a 30-30 or even that rimmed .30 Marlin round with a meal trigger guard & for end piece.  A ladder sight maybe    Call it a homesteader or sandhiller.  Maybe this move to a new location and some updated machinery might make things possible.

Ok, stupid question but D_Hiker and I were talking about this the other day.

H&R has a place where they refinish actions and the color case-hardening refinish was an option.  Can you send in a regular receiver and have them redo it?

I would like to have a B/C but have quite a few actions without homes now and was thinking about sending one in for a .45 LC barrel and a B/C stock for it.

IIRC when H&R was refinishing barrels and actions they would only redo whatever the original finish was, re-blue a blued action, and re-color case harden a frame that was already done that way. A few years ago there was an attempt to have them color case harden a blued frame and they said they would only refinish a frame to what it started out as...sadly. BUT, no harm in asking again!!!...<><....:)
