I just had dave clements make me one of his post front sight blades with two gold bars on it for my 454. Sure is a nicer sight picture then the ramp.

Do you paint a line on your rear sight as well? I did it on my Tanfoglio, and it actually turned out pretty well. When the painted lines form a straight line, it's time to pull the trigger. Maybe it would be easier if the line are gold instead of just white??

The gold bars are there to line up with the top of the rear sight.  No line on the rear sight is needed.
This sight is used for long range shooting where you do not want to cover up your target with the front sight, but instead you lower the top of the rear sight down in order to get the needed elevation.  The gold bars take much of the guess work out of knowing how far to lower the rear.

I like my back sight to be black.

Can you request the lines be put in a specific location on the sight blade?  That way you could tailor the markings to correspond with your specific gun and load.

steve there used more for a sight reference then an actual aim point. it would be pretty tough on a handgun to specify a line in the exact place for a load. Just changing your alloy or primer will effect the point of aim at 300 yards enough where it wouldnt work. Im sure if you were locked into a load in a certain gun and knew exactly on a sight how far down you wanted a bar it could be done though.

Thanks Lloyd. I did not realize that David made blades for the FA. I just ordered the same blade, .010" thick, for my M97 45 Colt.
