Many new members have asked specifics about sending a frame in for accessory barrels, you can send it by mail or other carrier like UPS or Fedex, but H&R will return it by UPS after fitting the new barrel(s). A lot of members including myself just send the frame and order a stock set, or just order a forend that will be dedicated to the new barrel if you intend on swapping barrels around on one frame. Many don't like to send a nice stock set at all cuz sometimes they damage it while fitting/handling, sending just a frame in a USPS priority small flat rate box will cost $4.95 plus insurance and they'll have it in 2 days, 3 at most. You can also break the butt and frame down and send them with the forend, if you don't order one separately, in a flat rate priority box for $10.35 plus insurance. Some members don't send any wood at all, just the frame even tho the instructions say to send the butt and forend.

Any information on the cutoff date for new barrels? Some time this year they will stop accepting them at the current facility and start shipping them to China or where ever they are moving production to, I really wouldn't want the first one fit in Brazil. Larry

I talked to Jenifer today, .357 barrels in stock and no problem getting one fitted before any future move would complicate my order. I didn't press her for details on the move, but it seems like business as usual in the shop for now.

If I recall, all the new barrels, including 357 are extractor rather than ejector... am I correct?

New to this forum, but not to the world. I recently picked up a HB ,223, that will neither eject or extract. I've contacted H&R & they indicated it could be fixed, so thought I'd get and extra barrel fitted and the trigger tweaked if possible while the receiver was there. Just having trouble deciding on the caliber. I swapped the stock & fore end for the brown laminate off an Ultra. So will have a .270 action & barrel to move along. I have another .223 & a .204 bolt rifles, I'm stuck between the HB 204 or a ,243. Any thoughts?

The 243 Bull Barrel in 22" would be a good choice , also the 26" 25/06 or the 22" 45/70 , all depends on what you want to do with the rifle .

Yes, H&R hasn't made an ~~extractor~~ ejector centerfire rifle barrel for about 2-3yrs, they first started in 2004, all subsequent barrel runs have been extractors, there may be some slow movers that still have ejectors, 223 Superlights and 450 Marlin for a couple.

Turn around has been as short as 21 days including shipping both ways lately, as long as the barrel is in stock, now is the time to send them in, it's their slowest time of the year traditionally, now thru August. I would advise calling first to check availability, they're out of 30-30 barrels until June or July.

Kind of curious...if a barrel is sent in for repair that had ejector, would it be returned as extractor? A new barrel fitted would presumably be an extractor? Hmmmm guess we'll wait & see. I was kinda getting used to the .17 HMR & HM2 rimfires kicking out over my right shoulder.
When I called lasted week, they had lots of .204 in stock and green laminated wood. Evidently a delivery glitch with the cinnamon lami wood

If they need to replace a defective centerfire rifle ejector barrel, it will be with an extractor if that's all they have, which is highly likely. Some of the less popular chamberings were still available with ejectors since they were old runs and slow movers, but I don't know if that's still the case, the 450 Marlin is now only available as an extractor. Rimfires and shotgun barrels are still ejectors, for now anyway, no one has reported an extractor on them yet.

I would prefer to do that. But I worry that if I did, NEF would send it back, because I did not follow the instructions about sending the stock and the fore end as well.

I assume that while the barrel must be factory fitted, NEF could use any stock and fore end they have lying around?

By "frame" do you mean receiver? Or would frame include the stock as well?

I just sent two receivers, with a barrel for repair. Having also ordered a replacement stock & fore end, when H&R returned them, one was packaged as a complete rifle and the repaired receiver/barrel unit was in another box, although all were shipped together. Well packed and very reasonable 3 week turn around including transit time. I had called them to verify the wood & barrel were in stock. That was probably the hardest part of the whole deal. Took 3 calls to actually get an answer, but H&R C/S was very helpful. Just be sure to include the details of exactly what you want done. I would also recommend putting a tag on the receiver with your name.address & phone #. Good luck

I've ordered several barrels(at least 7 or 8 ) and only sent the frame(receiver), but I always order a stock set too since I don't swap barrels around since I like complete Handis, 43 so far and counting.

But many here don't send any wood with their accessory barrel orders since H&R sometimes damages stocks when handling them, so they only send the frame, or as an alternative, send a plain stock instead of a nice Ultra or walnut stock that came on the firearm originally. No one has ever reported being refused a barrel order for stocks not being sent with the order.

That said, I can't speak for what Remington does for CS once they move to Ilion.

Call or email them and ask. We were told they would change the address on the acc barrel page when the time came, it hasn't been changed yet.

I drop my action in the mail the 1st week of june
I did speak with customer service and ask if they wanted any wood with the action the girl said the action is all they need
I did double check and the 7MM-08 barrel are in stock

Back to you, you're the owner, why would they need to ship to an FFL when there's no transfer of ownership?

I sent away for a 20 gauge (rifled slug) replacement barrel on Tuesday.

The H & R lady told me they were not accepting any new barrel orders after June 20, due to the move (to New York State, she said).

Yes, they did have 20 gauge slug barrels in stock.

It took me about five minutes to get through.

I expect mine to get there on the 16th. Maybe with luck I'll have it back by the end of June? Probably more like mid-July.

And I called today to make sure they were still up and going. Sent off 2 frames to get 357 barrels and stocks. Sent next day service to make sure it was there in time. Ordered some other stuff also, including trigger work. Now the hard part, waitin.

Drats! Now I kinda wish I'd have put in for one of the 20 gauge (Rifled) slug barrels also. Is that something you can do- since the frame is on it's way to the shop anyhow- call and request another additional barrel? with funding, of course.

Man this handiholic stuff is the business- I get to itching all over and what feels like a mild fever sets in when I get to thinking of it all! Weird!!! My mouth is watering too! Sorry, I know....TMI!!! Hehe!
