New Toy
« on: April 07, 2008, 06:31:54 AM »
Good morning everyone. Just wanted to pass on an experience that proves that sometimes things do go right. A few months ago I ran across a new in the box Survivor in 308 at a local gun shop. It had been special ordered for a person that did not pick up the rifle as agreeded. The guy that owns the shop is a personal friend and he and I have done alot of business together. Long story a little shorter, he gave me a deal I could not refuse on the rifle ( cheaper than his cost ). I bought the rifle  and took it home where it lived in the safe for a while with the other Handies and others until I sold the barrel here at Graybeards. The frame and stocks stayed in the safe. Didn't think too much about it for a while until I saw an ad in the classifieds from Fanner50 about a 450 Marlin barrel. Made a deal for the barrel and put it on the frame and stocks this weekend. It locked up perfectly. Mounted a Simmons Pro-50 2.5-10 X 50 that I had acquired in another trade. Did a very careful job with the bore site, for obvious reasons, and put it on the bench yesterday. After 4 dial in rounds it is shooting 1 1/2 " 4 shot groupes" 2" high at 100 yds. I'm shooting the Hornady 325 gr. Leavereveolution (spelling). Did the usual cleaning for the new frame and barrel and have had no problems with it in any way. Thanks a bunch Fanner50 Great shooting barrel!
