Early Four Digit Post-War K-22 Found

Last weekend I attended a very small gun show locally here in East Tennessee. It only had 78 Tables and I did not expect to see much of Interest to me. I stood to be corrected as I came across this early four Digit Post-War K-22 on a seller table. It had the smaller Magna style service grips and the seller said they did not match the gun. I paid him for it and upon reaching home pulled the grips and he was wrong as they are serial numbered to the gun so it left the factory with them. I have since replaced them with the Period correct Factory target grips shown. I just learned it shipped in November 1947 as well. Regards, Hammerdown

  I love the .32 S&W Long caliber revolvers. I think they would have been more popular and useful if they were not overshadowed by more popular calibers and editions.  I have lost on line bids on nice model 30 and 31's. Finding one that is in great condition but not overpriced has been a challenge. Looking for a nickel, matching grips, model 30 with box.

Is that a Four Digit serial numbered K-22 as well ? I see the serial is close to Nine thousand. Mine is in the Three Thousand range. I also see yours has the smaller Post-War Cylinder extractor Knob, and No cut out under The Barrel Like mine does to allow proper clearence for the Larger pre-War Mushroom style extractor end to clear. Does yours have the Four Line Factory address on the Left side under The cylinder window, or does it have the single Line address that reads "Made in the U.S.A" Like mine ? neat Little changes are Pertinant when we are looking at serial numbers and Factory changes on their Models. I will anxiously await your response... Hammerdown

 Yes, 4 digits, #87xx. Left side is plain. Right side has the S&W logo below hammer and " made in usa "  below the forward part of the cylinder. Grips have matching number.

Thanks for sharing that. It gives me some insight as to when the production changes occured according to the serial numbrs, I see they had quit a few frames ahead that had the Older Early Post War single line address. Best regards, Hammerdown
