My .30-06 had a Lyman long slide peep sight on it - but was a Springfield Armory low-numbered (below 800,000) receiver.
My gun had Sedgley's Philadelphia address on it.
IIRC, they were all made prior to WW II.
Although Sedgley was supposed to have successfully reheat-treated those receivers, I never fully trusted mine with the modern commercial loads then available (ca.1980), and eventually sold it.
Every one I've ever seen, about ten over the years, was outfitted with a peep, most had a checkered half-stock w/schnobble forend tip like mine, but I've seen two that were full-length, mannlicher-type stocked, and I've seen one short barrel sporter - about 20" or so.
