Anybody else have a Sedgley Springfield?

I have a Sedgley Springfield in 30-06 with the original Redfield receiver sight on it.  From what info I can gather it was made sometime in the late 20's by R.F. Sedgley of Philadelphia.  My action is one made in Springfield Arsenal but most Sedgley's were made at the Rock Island Arsenal by Remington.  It seems that some of these actions needed reheat treatment as they were too brittle.  Does anyone else have any further info or comments on these rifles?

IIRC, they were all made prior to WW II.

Although Sedgley was supposed to have successfully reheat-treated those receivers, I never fully  trusted mine with the modern commercial loads then available (ca.1980), and eventually sold it.

Every one I've ever seen, about ten over the years, was outfitted with a peep, most had a checkered half-stock w/schnobble forend tip like mine, but I've seen two that were full-length, mannlicher-type stocked, and I've seen one short barrel sporter - about 20" or so.

we have similar likes in firearms I presume.  I too have a No 1 RSI in 30-06 along with the B78 and now the Sedgley.  My Sedgley's stock has been redone, probably because it was marred up some over the years.   No checkering.  Mine has the schnobble forend but is not pronounced like most others.  I shoot 200 Speer or Sierra's in it behind a load of 54 grs of IMR 4350 for about 2500 fps.  This is near max for the 200 gr and mine extracts like glass from the action.  No sign of high pressures or other abnormal pressure indicators.  I'm going to load up an accurate round using the 220 RN and Nosler PT for testing next.  Should be a good round for bear in heavy brush along Alaska's coastline.
