Rem 700 SA value?
« on: March 31, 2008, 11:12:24 AM »
Could you give me your guess as what I should be paying for a donor rifle for the Rem 700 RH SA with 308 bolt head. Never searched for a donor rifle before. Thinking that I really need a 20 BR Rem varmint rifle. Thanks

Panhandle,
It depends entirely how patient you are. There are still a few Wal-Mart synthetic ADLs out there. They can usually be had for just over $300 NIB. By haunting the pawn shops, you might be able to snag a fair wood-stocked ADL in the same price range, but they are getting scarce. One of our local shops has a standing offer from a smith: $350 for any complete 700, period. They go on up from there. A fairly nice BDL can sometimes be had for as low as $400-450. And, of course, this is in my area (central East Texas), and may be totally different where you are. I've seen bare actions sell for over $500, with no stock or barrel. Be patient, but ready. I'm always lookin' for another one!

Just purchased a new M700 for $427 and tax at Dick's.  It was on clearance (made in 2005) and had a couple small dings in an otherwise very nice walnut stock.  According to the box it is a 'Special Purpose' variation.  It has a floorplate, satin blue finish and checkered walnut stock with a satin finish.  No iron sights, no ebony tip on the forearm and no grip cap like the BDLs have.  The bolt is polished but not jeweled.

The one I got was a .30-06 but they had a 7mm-08 just like it, same deal.

I bought an ADL in 243 from WalMart in December for $325, then got $30 back on the rebate.

Boy OH Boy. Another steal. I don't see these deals around here for sure. Good for you. Dale
