Did the price of these guns go up with the new look? I have to say it is a major improvement and looks pretty good.

Yeah, I may have to pick up a new 45 carbine myself.

Not that I've heard.  I have heard talk among current Hi Point carbine owners that Hi Point will offer the new stock as an upgrade to current carbine owners for only $30.00....."UNCONFIRMED".

Does the hi-point carbine have its own magazines or does it use other makers magazines?

Hmmm, nice. this is a big improvement. Flip up rear peep? I would like to see spare mag storage on the buttstock but if it is plastic, a fobus piece can be attached...of course, a more conventional mag pouch could be riveted on. I wonder if it would take a reflex sight without blocking iron sights.

They use their own mags. The mags from the 40/45 pistol are supposed to work in the 4595. Of course the 4595 was supposed to be released in the fall of 06 IIRC.

If and when the 45 actually hits the stores, I'll probably buy one.  My experience so far with a 995 I purchased last December has been extremely positive, especially given the price of the darn thing ($159).

I purchased a butt pad/magazine holder and 2 extra magazines from Hi Point (along with a compensator and laser attachment), and one of the magazines quit working properly the first time out.  Sent it back and had a new one that works fine within a week or so.  The trigger is heavy and almost 2-stage, but despite that it shoots very well.  I added an inexpensive 4x Leapers compact scope and an AimShot xenon light.  My total investment in the whole mess is about $260.  And it's pretty cool looking for an ugly black carbine.  -WSJ

Warranty
All Hi-Point firearms come with a lifetime "no questions asked" warranty. While older manuals have stated that the lifetime warranty is available to the original purchaser only, Hi-Point has since retroactively extended the warranty to include third-hand owners. Under the warranty, Hi-Point guns are repaired or replaced free of charge. However, Hi-Point is considering a change to its current warranty for the carbines, due to the high return rate of weapons with modified stocks from ATI, which cause damage to the Hi-Point Carbines

Any idea if there is any truth to this regarding the carbine warranty change? (I got it from Wikipedia)
The problem with troubleshooting is....sometimes it shoots back!
