Man.... That sure looks just like the one I bought last summer. Mine's in .17 Rem. Fireball, and shoots really well for an out-of-the-box gun. What for caliber is yours, and are you happy with it?

Mine is the 243 Varmint. I am very happy with it. I can shoot groups that measure 3/8" or less on a regular basis at 100 yards and have shot groups at 300 yards that measure 7/8". Here is one of my 300 yard targets. Dale

:D if I had a dollar for everytime Dale posted that target pic, I could buy Microsoft. No complaints though, I love me some range reports that show what these Varmints can do!!  Everyone should have one! Go now! Get it!

I have a new scope coming in this week for my SPS Varmint .223 - going to load some of the ammo that has given me the best results and hit the range. The new scope is a Bushnell Elite 4200 6X-24X 40mm with target dot. Hopefully I can improve upon the groups I fired using a Weaver V16.

I have most of my first lot of brass fire formed and hopefully the accuracy will be even better this time around neck sizing using the Collet die.

Sounds like a great scope. I plan on putting a Super Sniper 16x40 on mine in the near future. Please give us a range report. Dale

Alright!! My last 3-shot group during barrel break-in went just a tad over 0.250" @ 100 yds. I see factory brass is now available for the .17 Fireball, and I'm hoping to get started on load workup this spring. Mine's wearing a straight 12X Leupy right now.

I would have to say another typical shooter of the SPS model. For those that don't believe the SPS can shoot I say HUH!! I really don't think I have read of one that did not shoot great. Dale

I've got one too. Rarely shoots over half an inch, smallest group I have EVER shot went .176" ctc,3 shots. Its the rifle that ALWAYS gets to go to the bench when we go shooting. It usually shoots into the .3's

I'll generally say that Remington 700 SPS Varmints are generally pretty accurate, as a matter of fact one of them might be my next rifle purchase.

I'll get my skirt blown up more though when I see (5) 5-shot groups that average in the .3s or under 1/2MOA.  Anybody can screw up and shoot one small three shot group down there every once in a while, its what the rifle averages that gets me impressed.

I've got an SPS Tactical that after bedding it in a McMillan stock and working down the trigger will average .5032 MOA for (5) 5-shot groups for 25 rounds fired total, which is pretty darn close to 1/2 MOA.  It has shot down in the .3s for 5 shots before, but that doesn't make it a .3 rifle.  Still, if that is any kind of indicator on what kind of accuracy I can get from a factory barreled action from Remington, I'll be more than happy to try out one of their SPS Varmints when its time to get my next rifle.
