Ethos Gas Reformulator
« on: March 13, 2008, 10:27:22 AM »
Check out this site:

http://www.thegassecret.com/index.html

I was looking at gas prices on the "Gas Buddy" web site and they had an advertisement for this product.  It's been on Fox news, ABC, etc and reports that it works.  I've also searched online a little today and haven't found anything trashing it.  It's kind of pricey but, if it works like it says, it would more than pay for itself.  Also, they have a distributor program where you could get it cheaper.  Anyway, just wondering if anyone has used it.  I know that most things that sound too good to be true are but, since this was featured on Fox news, etc, figured it may actually work.  It sounds good anyway.

Let me know what people think.  If I can find any a little cheaper, I may try a bottle for 30 days and see how it does.  I'll definitely post the results if I do.

MODIFY:  One MAJOR plus is that the company actually has contact information on their site!!  I've e-mailed them...we'll see if I get a reply.  The link above isn't their corporate site though.  I believe it's www.ethosfr.com.  Something like that.

Nevermind...I found some good forums that set me straight on this Ethos stuff.  Looks like a pyramid thing...a scam.  Oh well, I know it was too good to be true.  Guess I'll give up on trying to find something to increase my gas mileage...not going to happen.  >:(

The best thing you can do is buy a trashed $400 econobox and drive it till it quits! The deal is though you'll have to drive it a lot to offset the cost of insurance.

How much do you drive a week?

12.5 miles one way to work every day so that's 125 to work and back.  Including the extra driving I do, I normally drive about 200 miles a week.  I can get about 330 miles out of a tank of gas and that normally lasts me a week and a half.

OK with the habits you give your not going to get a big return on ANY mpg investment, If I were you I wouldn't worry about it.

According to my calculations at 3.15per gallon on 14mpg at 200 miles per week = $45

NOW if you had a car that got 25mpg driving the same distances with the same fuel price your weekly fuel bill will be $25.20

You only save 20 bucks a week or 1020 dollars a year BUT subtract the insurance/upkeep of $500 yearly and you only save 520 bucks on fuel that's with a FREE car

with the distances you drive you can see there's no point whatsoever is spending money on increasing MPG unless it's going to net a MINIMUM  100% increase in mileage with you're

Now if you buy a chip that only nets a 2mpg gain you'll save about $5.50 per week or $286 per year if that chip reprogrammer costs $500 it'll take you almost 2 years before you start "saving" money

Hadn't really put that much thought into it before...

Truth is, I can complain all I want to about high gas prices but they've yet to keep me from going somewhere I wanted to go.  ;D

I got a Focus for my daily 140 mile commute. It cut my costs in half from driving the truck ($80 per week instead of the $160). The car is paid for in the first year and a half.  Now if it only lasts a couple more years...

I kept the truck to drive when I need to drive a truck.  It has 212,000 miles on it and no real resale value.
