Jeep Tires
« on: March 11, 2008, 05:31:44 AM »
I am looking for tires summer tires under my Nissan Terrano II and I came across tires called GT Radial.  Have you heard of them?  I read on an Icelandic web page that these tires received some kind of citation (translation could be doubt full) from GM as one of their top suppliers. I use Cooper Discoverer MS in the winter, probably the best tire on an icy road I have tried, but tight grooves easily fill up with snow in extreme circumstances.

Do you use tacked tires in winter?  Most of my countrymen do but they play hard on bare tarmac in thaw.  I would love to know your opinion.  These GT Radials are Chinese made and cost much less money than any others.  Could be all right for the summer.  But then there's this GM thing.

Do you think GM picks tires because they are good or because they can get them cheep?

I am a big fan of BF Goodrich Radial TA's .
I do not get into extreme 4X4 but for the daily driving that I do I am very happy with them

I also like the BFG's for all around use.  have had a set on my Jeep for 65K miles and they're still having plenty of use left in them.  Give great performnce on and off the pavement.

I am curious...the thread title specifcally mentions "Jeep tires" yet I'm the first to even mention this make.  Where does the Nissan Terrano fit in to the Jeep association?

As a jeep was defined for me when I was younger, it had to have a high/low gearbox, a frame and a ground clearance of some cm.  The TerranoII fits right in that.  Does that answer your question.  I'm afraid I might have misunderstood you.

But just for kicks, I can show you a picture of a typical Icelandic Jeep (mine is not modified though).
