Thanks for the prayers guys, I appreciate them greatly.  God was watching out for me as I am pretty lucky.  I was walking across the street in town and was hit by a drunk driver at about 30 mph.  I took it full in his truck grill right over my CCW weapon (which helped, along with the holster, to dissipate some of the impact) on my right hip.  (yes, the gun is ok!)  I'm very lucky as most of my problem is muscle bruising and swelling.  I do have two broken vertebra in my lower back but the Dr's prognosis is good, got to just give them time to heal properly.  It looks like I should come out of this pretty good with God's help.  I'll just keep using that cane for a bit and be really careful not to slip on the ice.  Why don't things like this happen during good weather so I could enjoy the time off work!  I did stand out the back door of the garage and put a cylinder full down range through each of those new Gauchos a couple of days ago.  i just couldn't restist making sure they would shoot!  Thanks again for your prayers and well wishes.  44 Man

44 Man : I was sorry to hear of the accident and glad your gun and your tough hide saved you more damage.... another reason for concealed carry , it is not ?
glad you are as well as you are.... and as tough as you evidentally are, too..
we would hate to lose you, take it slowly and get it done to return to your best.
we are with you.. we are behind you...
we were just not in front of you when it counted I guess, but some fires you just got to walk through alone... you are a tough rascal and I am glad to know you .. keep the powders dry... and just get well ... oh , and get even... hope the perpetrator gets some hard time for that one.

Glad to hear you are ok.

My wife kids me about about being paranoid .  For the most part, I'm in a steady state "Condition Yellow" bordering on "Orange".  With that said, I do find myself wandering occasionally -- mostly age related i'm guessing. About 15 yrs ago, my parents were involved in an auto accident in their mid 80s.  Car jacker in high speed chase with police.  Car jacker hit a low area at an intersection and went air borne -- smashed into my parents coming home from dinner out.  No matter what , Sometimes, you just can't get out of the way.

 :) 44 Man:
It's great that you are able to sit and type, let alone anything else.  That piece of scripture "pray without ceasing" means more to me the older I get.    We never know from day to day what may be headed our way.

May your healing come speedily in Jesus' name.

Well Lloyd, yesterday was not a good day.  I'm sure you know all about good days and bad days.  When I get to thinking that I am really doing good, all I have to do is be late on my pain med to remind me that healing takes lots of time.  I think I will pass on the .500 for a bit.  A .22lr sounds like enough right now.  Actually that's a good idea.  Sometimes those .22s get neglected with our enthusiasm for big bores and this is a good chance to spend some time with those pleasurable guns again.  44 Man

44,

At least the 22 won't cost ya an arm and leg to shoot. Time to do a bunch of  casting & reloading.

Take care and get healed up soon!

44man,

I'm usually just a lurker here, been reading the forums for a few years.  I have learned a lot about guns and shooting here and a good portion of that was from you.  I'm very glad your injuries were not any worse than they were.  I'll definitely be keeping your name on my prayer list.  After the vertebrae in your back heal, if you still have some pain, find yourself a good D.O. and get a little manipulation for your back.  I don't know where you are but if your ever in eastern KY you can look me up and I'll do what I can for you.

Best wishes,
Doc
