cooper arms of montana
« on: March 01, 2008, 10:53:31 AM »
Well I'm assuming someone owns one of these firearms. What do you think of it? They have really caught my eye.

I guess I really cant see myself going and buying a savage, putting on a top of the line scope, possibly customizing if i don't like it, and then deciding to actually keep it.

I have had a savage before. Not saying i thought their was anything wrong with it. Just i wanted something better. Its a shame to have to think that way but i want something very nice im not going to sell. Also i have heard that their rifles besides the rimfires are not repeaters. does that mean their is no magazine and it would only be a single shot if going to with a centerfire?

There Model 52 is a bolt repeater.  Beautiful firearm and extremely accurate.  Caught my eye but don't the money for it,   yet.  Buckfever

Very nice looking rifles but their caliber offerings dont suit me,no 7mags,no 300wms,no 8mm RMs,guess they dont want to sell to the mag fans,30 calibers and none of the most popular western mag calibers, looks like they are targeting the crowd that has to have an little known caliber rifle and Im sure their prices reflect that.

Looked at those rifles and they sure make beautiful stuff.  That is why I will more than likely never own one.  I have just about quit buying pretty rifles cause I want to use the thing.  I only have one rifle now that is wood and I just can't help getting scratches on it no matter how hard I try to stop it.  Now, if I had a bunch of cash and want to buy a rifle to hang over the fire place then, maybe...

Ithica Gun Company has been in Ohio for awhile now. I purchased a Ithica slug barrel used for my Browning Gold and had an issue with it. Even the barrel was made before the current ownership they still warranted it.
Impressive!

Nice rifles - 4 guys I shoot with have them - 3 204's and one 223. They shoot tiny tiny groups - however if you ask about there use other than the range - you get "well I would like to but they cost $1600". IMO buy now as the pre-Ohio rifles will be worth more than the OH rifles in future. I don't know why someone would not put a top of the line optic on a Savage if the rifle shoots well. With a Savage as with AR platform - accuracy is all about the quality of the barrel as the action is just an accessory. Buy a Savage put a nice aftermarket stock on it, quality optic and you would have a nice usable field rifle for the same price as just the Cooper.

I've had one on order through Sportsmens Warehouse for almost a year now. Been told to forget it. As soon as one comes in it goes to a friend of the salesman. >:(
