Spartan Spr94 410/22

Has anyone owned or shot one of these?  Do they have anything over the Savage 24?

I've been thinking about getting one but I haven't been able to find one at a dealer so I have not been able to handle one.  I know that the Spartan stuff can be hit or miss sometimes, but I hear that they've been getting better.

I have the Baikal IZH 94 in .22 Magnum over 20 gauge.  It is a better firearm than the 410/20 from what I have seen.  The old Savage Model 24's to me would be the route to go but used ones are very expensive.  The one drawback of the Savage's is the trigger selection.  It varies from model year.  Sometimes it is on the side and others it is part of the hammer.  The Spartan/Baikal uses double triggers.  The Spartan model with the 20 gauge barrel is more like a shotgun than a rifle in feel and swing.  The old Savage was more of a rifle with the shotgun barrel as the accessory...that is how I used my old Savage 24 [a .22 Magnum over 20 gauge].  The Savages [older models] are fixed chokes.  I believe the modern synthetic stocked models are also fixed choked as well.

Yeah those Savages are nice guns, but they are kinda pricey for something to shoot tree-rats with.  Thanks for the reply.

I had a IZH-94 in 12/30-06 and it was a very accurate gun, then I got a 12/.222 which was not regulated correctly.

From what I remember the 410/22 is different that the 20/22 mag.  I believe the 20/22mag as open barrels where as the 410/22 are joined together. 

Before you buy a Baikal/Spartan my suggestion is to make sure the barrels windage is regulated correctly.  Which should be easy to do with the in the bore lasers.
