Tim.....in your inquires, any conversation regarding brass?...... Honestly, I think the additional expense incurred for this would MORE than increase the aesthetic value to the rifle....OR....what about case hardening?

I just called and talked to Gary, they don't offer anything in brass in their other products, but he said he'd certainly consider brass too. Their prototype machines are tied up now and have been for quite some time trying to keep up with normal business, he said it shouldn't be too long before he can put a man on the machine making the TG and spacers for us, then he'll determine a selling price depending on the labor involved in making them. He also said other businesses had called him asking when these would be available, so he knows there's a retail market for them besides us Handiholics!!

Tim that is great news, and that there is at least a consideration re: brass leads me to hope.

I must add my gratitude to Tim for the time and effort he has devoted to this project. My ought-six Handi sure will be purdy with polished & blued steel furniture, and the brass parts trigger thoughts of a .30-30 or .45-70. Guess I'll be trolling the used-gun racks for yet another Handi before too long . . .

The blued steel set from H&R when they made them was $70, they sold them all, so it's not a bad price considering they didn't require any finishing, sometimes a little adjustment for fit.

From what I've seen, steel at 70 a set would fly off the shelves.
I don't know that I would buy the steel, as the brass would be more for aesthetics than functionality.
I assume I would have to use my BC as a war club to worry about breaking the plasic triggerguard. that is some stout plastic!!

I just ordered a BC so if the trigger guard that came with the rifle is plastic I prefer a steel one so count me in too.

I'd go for a set in blued steel, preferably a matte finish. $70 range is acceptable - I do not want to have to finish fit or blue them if possible.

My last Handi I had retro fitted with the factory steel guard and spacer.It was PERFECT. I'd pay $ 100 for a set like that for my new .223! I'm old school when it comes to guns, steel and walnut ( or nice fiddleback maple) thank you very much!

I ordered a brass set and recieved it in the mail 3 days latter? I found it easy to fit. Not perfect but easily fits as well as the plastic pieces I took off.

From what I read here I guess I'm the lucky one. Should have instead bought a lottery ticket.

I would be interested in blued ones but 40.00 would be my limit.

I must add that the 70-100 may not be unreasonable but many of us buy these rifles because of their low cost and that is a pretty high percentage jump in price. Many would have to have them installed as well. Just my thoughts.

I am a newbie, and almost ordered two (2) L'cheapo sets of both blue and brass, unitil I searched here at GBO. So much more to read!

Out-of-box fit is more important than colour. I would not mind medium rock-tumbled texture. Sometimes I tumble brass castings with a few cup-fulls of small #10 nickel chromium alloy steel (stainless) screws for a slightly-grey antique finish. Steel may have better strength and reliability. There are many brass and/or bronze alloys, red, yellow, leaded, unleaded, naval, etc.. I have also heard of a black-oxide finish brass. I don't like an aluminum-steel dissimilar metals arrangement though. How much to spend upon a $448.68 BC-1871 - hmmn? - it would still be hundreds less than a Remington-Marlin and almost thousand less than USRA-BAC-Miroku.
There should be an advertising-disclosure law about using plastic parts.
