Encore forearm question
« on: July 02, 2003, 11:22:24 AM »
I have an Encore 209 x 50 muzzleloader.  I just ordered a 7M-08 barrel (24") for it.  Do I need to order a different forearm for this barrel or will the one I have work?  Also, I see some of you have gone with the hanger bars.  Is this something that has made a drastic difference in your accuracy or would a couple of washers do the same thing?

Long winters, you will need a new forearm for the 7mm-08 barrel because your 209x50 forearm has the ram rod holder clips that holds the ram rod in it. Will not fit on your 7mm-08 barrel. Hope that helps. Twyman

longwinters..
from what I can see at TC's home page, the forends are the same for the 24" tapered and the 26" heavy barrels...as was pointed out the muzzle loadre is different...have one listed for the 26: that isnt for the 24" but it looks to me like it is for the longer barrel just for cosmetics as it is longer...anyway I have both the 26" heavey and the 24" and the same forend fits both.....enjoy....Rob

NO the forend for a 24" is different than the one for the 26" barrel. You have to buy the one that you need. The taper is different in them.

They make one forearm that fits the 24" & 26" barrels both.  They also make a varmint forearm that fits only the 26".

The distance between the mounting holes is the same.

I just bought the forend today.  The package says Encore-forend, standard rifle (no. 7708). But how about the rest of my question.  Are you guys just sanding, using washers or using hanger bars? :D

Just screw it to the barrel unless shooting tells me to do some of what you mentioned.  So far mine work fine by just screwing them to the barrel.
