Bison hunt was a bust

My daughter and I were pretty psyched.  She was #11 on the roster for one of 18 cow/calf bison tags during Montana's Jan. 1-22 season in the Gardiner district.  Problem is, winter didn't arrive here 'till this past Sunday when temps finally went sub-zero and we got some real snow.  No cold weather/snow, no migration, no tags.  No tags were issued in her district, but several were in the West Yellowstone area.  Folks on the roster for the Jan-Feb. season will probably fare much better.

We're sure she and her 7mm-08 Handi were up to the task.  I had some special ammo loaded and she practiced some more in the snow on the elk skeleton
targets last weekend, until a friend showed up with his M16.  She promptly turned in her single shot for some good ol' Rock 'n Roll!

We've been standing by since Jan. 1. with some new gear and even an RN to do the phlebotomy for us.

We'll try again next year.
Cordially,
