Ruger 1022 magnum
« on: January 23, 2008, 04:53:56 AM »
Someone said the other day ( on another topic ) that these rifles were no longer made , i talked with a local gun shop/dist. and they confirmed it . They said there was no reason given for stopping . They tried to order them and were told no more orders were being taken . Well some have said they didn't work . I have one and it works great with the exception it does not like Remington ammo .
Anyway the gun shop said it was going up in value ,
well has anyone know anything about this ?
thanks !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

You are correct. Being an owner of one, you should be quite happy....I've seen them selling for over $600 lately online.

The biggest reasons were lack of sales and issues with the bolt...the later, dual extractor models had issues with cracking.

Just wasn't worth it for 'em, I guess. I'd scarf one up if I could find one at a decent price.

If you have a good one, hang on to it. I've had 2.

The (sorta) reliable one wasn't accurate and the accurate one wasn't reliable. I really wanted that gun to work. It was well made and nice looking, it just couldn't deliver.

I recently traded into a Remington 597M. I sighted it in and ran almost 200 rounds through it with only one bobble. The 1 plastic mag wouldn't load the first round if it was loaded to capacity. If I downloaded it by 1 it worked. No problems with the metal mag.

It fired every time I pulled the trigger (something my Rugers NEVER did) and it was accurate enough for hunting. Three-quarter inch groups at 50yds works for me. I did some random plinking out to 200 yards and was pleased. It's a keeper.

Is it Volquartzen or Magnum Research that still makes them?
I know some one does.
