I think you did very well.  I have a couple Simmons .44 Mag scopes and like them very much.  You have a nice package there.

My Handi 7-08 is zeroed with Winchester Power Point 140 grain soft points.  I like the Handi in 7-08 very much.  Nice power, light recoil.   ;)

I'm just getting set up to load some rounds, so I can't comment on results yet.

Good luck and enjoy.   :)

seems like 140 grs are the popular choice for deer.  anyone use sierra gamekings in the 7mm-08? i ve had very good results in my 7mm mag and 308.

Try some Varget; a grain or so below max.  My daughter's youth model shoots 140 CoreLokts seated ~.020 off the lands pretty well.  160 Partitions over H4831SC do well too.  I haven't done any extensive load tweaking to wring the most out of these.  H-380 & H-4895 weren't as impressive.
Cordially,

I really like my 7mm-08 Handi.

It shoots about 3/4" to 1" at 100 yards if I hold it steady enough, and that's using Remington Core-lokts,  and I really like this rifle, and it's just a really cool caliber.

You get some devestating knock down  power on the receiving end of it, and not much recoil for the amount of energy this round expends.

I've heard others talk about it, but became a believer when I finally experienced it, after watching what it did to a big bodied buck I shot at 150 this last season.

140 grain bullet on the front shoulder, the buck hit the dirt, and didn't even kick after it hit the ground.
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.
