Opinions Welcome
« on: January 21, 2008, 10:43:11 AM »
I have the opportunity to purchase a new .223 bull barrel (mod. #SB2-323) with 3x9 scope for $269 through a local gun dealer.  My main purpose is for target (informal) and silhouette shooting.  Any constructive input would be greatly appreciated.  I have read the FAQ's and I have to say, "Wow! You folks have some great info at this site." Thanks.

I say go for it. Heck if you dont like it just put it up for sale on the classified forum.

Welcome to GBO !!!   Sounds good, the scope is probably not up to the potential of the rifle, but you might sell it & put that money toward a better scope.

I think the 223 is one of the better Handi's along with the 45-70.

To all:  Thanks for the input.  I have a Beretta Tomcat (.32 ACP) on consignment at the gun shop for $275.  Somebody put half down and is waiting for the feds to complete the paperwork.  When he (?) puts down the rest I'll have them order the SB2-323.
For Nightstalker:  Yes, the handle was from the USAF.  I was in from 1972-1996.  Does your name has some special meaning? Like the F117's?  I was in the FOT&E at PS 22 from 1986 to early 1988.  When the program went "gray" they sent me to PS 66.  I stayed there until June of 1989.

Aimhigh yes I too was in i did not retire as you but was in from 99-05 in the 7thBW as a B-1 crewchief....  my nickname came from my first assigned plane it was its name and tail #. Plus I thought it applied to some other things I was doign because where I was stationed you could varmint hunt at night so kinda fitting :)  ... now back in TN and you can only hunt coons at night :(  and I have yet to master any kind of day hunting for yotes or bobcats
