Rechambering

I have a sportster in 17hmr and while it is fun too shoot it is expensive!  What calibers can I get it rebored to or should I just upgrade to a 223?   Like I said it is expensive and reloading for a 223 or 22 hornet would be cheaper.

You'll need an SB2 frame for the hmr barrel if you want to rechamber it, the SS1 frame won't work for centefire, 17 k-hornet or 17 Rem are a couple options.

you could just get an additional .22 LR barrel for it and shoot cheap .22 shorts, longs, and long rifles out of it and then switch to the .17 HMR barrel for longer distance and more accurate work....<><....:)

i live in Canada so getting another barrel is not a viable option here, not like you guys down there in the states where you get to send it away and get any number of barrels for it.  I have a  Anchutz in 22lr  and its a great shooter.  The price of ammo for the 17hmr is expensive and I was thinking if I could rechamber it to something I could reload then it would be cheaper to shoot.  The 17 remington  sounds like a great cartidge from what I have read and you are able to get the reloading components for it fairly easy. 
What goes into rechambering a rifle, would it be to just have a gunsmith bore it out where the shell fits in or do you have to bore out the whole barrel if I was going to the 17 remington.  Can you give me a ball park figure on cost too, thanks?
