Anything else new to talk about in Pennsylvania besides how bad the Game Commission has screwed up our hunting seasons and bag limits.

I am so fed up with everybody talking despairingly about how bad things are here.

Is there anything good that anyone would like to discuss?

Only news that I have is that one of the neighbors set free a couple of ringneck pheasants for their annual post Christmas hunt and one or two of them has migrated to my town and has taken up residence below my house.

I'm sure that sooner or later one of the neighbors will get brave and shoot them and then it will be back to normal.

Trout opens in the SE in less than three months.  By mid march the hybrid stripers will be hitting at BlueMarsh Lake.  Rendell is serving his last term.  Turkey is around the corner and say what you want about deer the turkey population is great.  These all put a smile on my face.  what floats your boat?

Thanks glad to see a change of topic.

this was the first deer season where I didn't see a turkey in the woods.

I can honestly say that I never caught a trout in my life.  I would like to and there was streams close by where they stock them.  But $20 + to fish in Pa is too much.

Not that it isn't worth it - if a person had the time to go fishing and had a place where there was good fishing.

There is a small pond below my house that had some bass in it, but as fishing pressure gets greater, more people move to the small ponds and it got too popular and now it is hard to catch a fish, let alone one that is big enough to eat.

If the fish commission did stock it, I would have to pay $20 for a license  - just to drop a line in the water.

Where is Blue Marsh Lake at?

out skirts of Reading in Berks county.

I look at the 20 for a general fishing lic like this.  I spend 20 for a gen hunting lic 20 on furtakers,  16 on bear,  16 on archery,  11 on ML,  3 on bird stamp, duck stamp, and 6 per doe tag.  Sorry but the fishing lic is cheap.  Heck I was brought up fishing, hunting, camping I will p[ay what it costs and enjoy myself.  With what the wife will spend on one little basket she doesn't argue.

There is the issue of limiting Lehigh Valley to a new shotgun only zone! They keep bringing up the young pregnant woman who was accidentally shot in the head a few years ago by a hunter as a reason to make this change. The claims are that the area is becoming too populated to allow the use of rifles. It's funny how the fact that this is a rifle hunting area hasn't kept the towns from approving new developments. This won't personally affect me since I don't hunt South of the blue Mountains, but I hate to see it come to pass.

Last year, there was a fatality in a town called Hudson.

It seems that there was a man that was on his way out the front door of his house and was struck by an alleged hunters bullet and died.  Something sounded fishy to me - due to the fact that it is all fields around his house and there was no good places to hunt within 1/2 a mile of his house.

So the chances of something like that happening would be 1 in a million.

Last year, there was an article in the paper where another man that grew up in the same general area was sentenced 7 to 15 years for DUI. - Driving Under the Influence.

Now this man came from a very wealthy family that hunts and owns a large tract of property in that area.

It makes me wonder if maybe he had something to do with the shooting fatality and they used a DUI to cover up the real story?  Due to the fact that I never saw a person get 7 to 15 years in jail for a DUI.

One of my neighbors was shot - allegedly hunting out of season, while climbing into a tree stand.

There was more to that story also because he was on probation for other things ( drugs and beating up a cop and under age drinking) and was not allowed to own or have a gun in his possession.
They gave him two years of probation and that was it.

It seems to me that the people that builds the houses makes the rules and there never is a place that is zoned agricultural - hunting.  But there are Lot's of places that are zoned residential - due to the fact that the people that builds the houses are on the boards and commissions that makes the rules.

Yeah!! It's Ed Rendell's last term in office. Taxes should go down just because the food budget alone will drop by millions.

Instead of making areas shotgun only, they should make them 45-70 handgun only and only allowing 500 grain bullets to be shot. With todays shotgun sabot loads it's nothing for a shotgun to be a 200 yard deer gun with ease. Try that with a T\C handgun 14" 45-70 lead 500 grain bullet.

$20 for a fishing license is cheap. Unless you only go one time. But heck....it cost more than that to take your wife to a movie once.

What's the cost of my '08-09 hunting license going to be? License, Archery, Muzzle loading, throw in 2 doe tags....gotta be over $60 anyway.

Did I mention it's Rendell's last term? And did I tell you this was good news? Well it is.

You can hunt coyotes here 24-7 if you want. Even at night. Hey....loaded guns and pitch dark....is this a great country or what!!!!

I think, but I'm not sure....wild pigs will be allowed to be shot 24-7 as well.

Did I mention Rendell? Yeah....maybe so. Oh...big drop in the food bill. I'm talkin BIG!! You see the size of that guy?? He don't miss too many meals.
