Hi All,
Last night a friend and I went to the indoor 100 yards Tunnel range, one rifle he took along was his fairly new CZ 452 which of course is screw cut for a sound moderator (silencer) as is usual here. He had a leupold varible (new one) on it but was not impressed with the clarity so he picked up a Zeiss Conquest varible and at the range we swopped it over, colimetered it and tried it out with variuos ammo at 100 yards from the bench.
Well of the high and hyper velocity stuff tried remington's Yellow Jacket was as I had found quite poor in consistancy and accuracy suffered as a result. Groups of around 3"-4" was the result but CCI Velocetor's did remarkably well grouping just over 1" and under 1 1/2" and he shot several groups to verify the results. The best thing is that the rifle shoots 1/2" high at 25 yards with the Sub Sonic Lapua ammo using the same zero.
I tried Yellow Jackets in my rifles with poor accuracy and in fact still have some but I will deffinatly be getting some of the Velocitors to try in my rifles and see if they like them as well. Never before have I had any success with teh hyper velocity ammo in .22 Long rifle and in tha past have tried Winchester Lazer and CCI Stingers. I doubt I will get quite as good groups as my rifles only have 3x-4x scopes on them, the Brno Model 2 has a Leupold M8 Compact and the BSA Supersport Five has a Weaver K3W. The BSA Supersprt Five with the shortened 16 1/2" barrel that is threaded for a Moderator has a Hawke Nigtheye 3-10x44 on it. I had forgotten that I had brought this scope to try Illuminated reticles

cannot say I am impressed with either the scope of the Illuminated idea. So next tiem down the tunnel range I will take a couple on the .22's to try out.
