New to GBO and the Handi

Greetings everyone,

I don't know what happened.  I was looking for an Encore or an Optima Elite in .270 or 7mm-08, and then spent many hours here and ended up with a 45-70 synthetic Handi.  I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I can't wait.  It is my first Handi and 45-70.  I just wanted to post here to say thanks to everyone for all the info that has been contributed.

Hey Kendall, glad ya made it!! You'll love the 45-70 syn Handi as long as you stick with trapdoor loads, but Limbsaver now makes a recoil pad for that stock if you can find one, it's a #10018, not very many around, but you can order it from Sims for $40, Sportsmans Warehouse carries Limsavers, but not that one at mine any way, maybe someone can order it for ya.

I got my first Handi back in October and it's also a synthetic stocked 45-70. My gun is very accurate and very fun to shoot. I installed a Williams WGRS peep sight on mine right after I got it and then used it to take a deer. I have also mounted a Leupold 2x handgun scope, Scout style, in conjuction with the peep sight but haven't got to hunt with this setup yet.
I hope you like yours as much as I like mine.
Make sure to give us a range report when you get to shoot it.
