The new delux CZ 527
« on: December 31, 2007, 12:37:04 AM »
Hi All,

Whilst in the gunshop yesterday, yep it's open on Sunday's, two chaps came in looking at .223 rifles. Well Colin showed them a new CZ 527 Deluxe. A model I had not seen before with the twisted hammer forged barrel and a rose wood shnabel tip to the fore stock and a high gloss deep black finish. It looked really sharp and before I saw the CZ527 on the side I thought it was a Mannlicher  :-[

The guy didn't go for it though and decided to buy a Sako 75 as he said the stock fitted him better, big lad must have been over 6 foot and quite broad too.

If I was in the market for a new rifle I would certainly be looking very closely at the deluxe CZ's now  ;) made my old Model 601 look quite drap and that has some really strikingly figured wood on it too.

I don't see it in their catalog, and not in any print, so maybe I am living in a sheltered part of the CZ world.  I have a 527 Varmint, in a 204, and love it....won't sell it either.....although it seems ( the caliber that is ) to be under constant attack on what it can not do .  I have found a few coyotes and a few hogs, that apparently don't know that yet.

I'm think hard about a .204.  Tell me more about the CZ.  The ones I've seen in 30-06 looked like great guns.

Well, my son and I got them last yr...Christmas 06......I got one for him as a small varmint gun, and my wife surprised me with mine,,,,,,a nice gift to say the least...she had mine topped with a Nikon Pro Staff,, and I had a nice Bushnell Trophy on his , with a variable objective, that brought things in pretty close... anyway , since we got them for Christmas, and we were headed to Texas the next day , we waited to sight them in there...we did
on a few dozen unsuspecting turtles and crows.......did not take long to become aware , that these were nice, solid shooters....I like the actions, it is smooth, the single set trigger feature, and the stock is simple, yet well done.   I have not had a single friend of mine who has shot it, say anything but WOW...when finished with a few clips....a few years of varmints, and I will know alot more, but a few coyotes, crows, and a few small pigs already know it works....I guess since I own it, I love it.....I can't talk down a 223 , or a 22-250 , since I have both as well...but I reach for this one now...all the time now.   I like the gun .

I bought one last year, and man am I impressed.  They're just smooth, solid rifles, and CZ doesn't compromise or take short cuts like some of the other companies out there churning out rifles.  Mine is a .17 Rem and turned out a nice group with the first hand load I tried.  It's a calling rifle, not a benchrest gun, so that's the load I use.

Talking to the guy at the Gunshop the 527 deluxe I saw is a trial model only available in .223 Rem. I would be looking at a .222 Rem which is not offered. Colin enquired about other calibres and they are not even sure if more of the current .223 offering would be available. This is why it's not on their web site. Pity as if it was I think they would sell a lot of them.
