Charles Daily Shotguns ?
« on: December 29, 2007, 08:43:25 AM »
Are they any good ? Walmart has them for 319.00 and I need a 20gage. Are any made with a wood stock. I'm kina of looking for what  people call a youth model. I had a heart attack and the Doc said put my old 12 ga. pump away (it kicks like a mule) I would rather have a Remington 11-87 but it is a little out of my reach financially. Any suggestions appreciated.

Which one are you talking about? The semi or the pump. I have not seen any of the Walmart varieties with wood except the double barrels.  The maxi-mag pump kicks worse than my 870 due to the light plastic stock they come with. I don't think a 20ga would be any different. Charles Daly customer service is excellent as I've had a great experience. They repaired mine for light strikes, paid for all the shipping, and even sent me a free turkey choke.   I'd check on a Mossberg.  They make the 935 semi in 20ga I think.

The 935 Mossberg is a better gun than the Daly semi auto.  It is made in the USA not turkey like the Daly.  Get a Mossberg..It's the best semi for the money out there.

Not going to debate the pros and cons of which semi auto is better, I have 2 Brownings , a Rem. and a lowly Charles Daley.  The  CD was bought as a knock about, get in to the briars kind of gun.  It is used in he foulest weather for fowl and bunnies.  Butt ugly black stock, lightweight, shoots to POA, uses Rem. tubes and has never failed to work.  Local sportsmans organization bought 5 Youth Models hundreds of rounds shot through them and no problems.  My son has one, bought when I got mine for the same purpose.  These 7 CDs that I can speak , have been good shotguns and work fine.

What Popplecop said. I bought one several years ago for a steal. Walmart was closing out some left over models. There set a 20 gauge auto(not youth stock) but same gun for 150. I said what the heck at that price it will be my kick around gun. Came with 3 chokes, full, mod and cyl. It shot so well and was soo light to carry and little recoil, it has become my everyday shotgun. With the full choke it is a killer on turkeys and will function with any light target loads on up to 3 inch mags with out a hitch. And it is one of the few guns that I have bought that actually shot point of aim out of the box.
