T3 22-250 barrel jumps alot???
« on: December 21, 2007, 05:47:38 AM »
This gun is new to me and I love it but I noticed that when shot the end of the barrel comes up alot from the recoil. Is there anything I can do to lessen the hop of the muzzle. Is there a good shooting technique to compensate for this. My old rem had alittle more weight to it and it didn't seem as jumpy.I shoot 55gr Winchester's. I've heard of the sims de resonator but I'm not sold on it.

Recoil from a 22-250?  Why is the recoil an issue?  Are you trying to see the shot hit your target?  Guns shooting bad?  I just don't understand why recoil from a 22-250 bothers you?

Limbsaver makes a new recoil pad that they say is designed to reduce muzzle jump, they don't make a prefit for the T3, but the grind-to-fit is available.

Are you shooting off of the bench?  If so, and you are getting muzzle jump from a 22-250, I would guess that you are putting downward pressure from your shoulder on the butt of the rifle so it cannot come straight back. This is easy to do and you might not even realize it.  If it can't come back its gotta go somewhere.

Now long winters thats the most constructive thing someone has told me and that makes total sense to me. I do believe that is what I was probably doing. Thanks gonna take it back out and work on the form. I guess I just have to get use to it.

I have that problem at times.  I have to remember to get set up and then pull the rifle butt into my shoulder.  If I do it just the opposite I get muzzle jump.  Good luck.
