CZ Mallard
« on: December 03, 2007, 02:07:46 AM »
Does anyone have one of these? I have read on some other sites that the trigger pull on these guns is horrible. I had planned to purchase one for my father in law for Christmas, but am now wondering if that is the way to go. My local dealer does not have one in stock, but can order one for me. It worries me that I have not had one in hand to test the triggers.

Thanks for any help.

I've never owned the Mallard specifically but have owned several of the CZ imported Huglu guns as well as a DeHaan imported Huglu and all were excellent guns and had no trigger issues that came to light during my use of them. Personally I'd not hesitate to buy another.

;D I finally got my hands on a 20 ga. Mallard yesterday. The fit and finish were much better than the finish on the competition (Rem. Spartan, Mossberg, Stoeger). The gun balanced well and wasn't as heavy as the others. The front trigger was a bit heavy, but was acceptable. The rear trigger was fine. The wood was lightly grained, but really good looking.

Needless to say I bought it in a heartbeat. Out the door price was $500. Honestly, the gun looked to be under-priced by at least $200. I think my father-in-law is going to be very happy on Christmas Day.

I like the gun so much that I intend to have one by next season.

Hmmm sounds like a nice gun. I would love to be there to see the FIL unwrap that.

I bought a cz 12ga mallard from gander mtn a couple months ago. I love mine, I've took it squirrel hunting a few times . It is so much better looking then anything in its price range.
I thought the triggers were fine.  I don't think you really need a world class trigger on a shotgun anyway, except maybe a slug gun
