243 handi drops one!

Went out yesterday with my handi.  Never even walked half a mile from the truck and spotted an 8 point whitetail.  Shot him at 40 yards and he kicked indicating a vital hit.  He was quartering away at a fairly sharp angle when he was hit.  Then he spun around and started heading my way!  So I gave him a second and a double lung hit and he dropped for good.  At such a close range the federal premiums left a 3-4" exit wound on the broadside shot.  The quartering shot never made it out.

Sounds like you made a good shot, made a fast reload and got off another good shot.
Did you recover the bullet from the first shot? If so, please gives us a report on it.

Yep got part of the jacket.  It hit both lungs.  Not much left.  But it was on the edge of the opposite lung.  None of it exited.  There were some shards in the lungs though.  they were pretty torn up.  But I don't think I wrecked much meat.  I'll post a pic of it when I figure out the stupid camera.
