Has anyone had a problem with this gun not firing? Pull the trigger the hammer drops but barely dents the primer. I have had as many as four out of five fail. Does not seem to matter which brand of ammo I use. Any experience with this issue or suggestions would be appreceiated.

My son has this revolver and carries it as a defense pistol.  It performs flawlessly every time he fires it, thankfully always at the range so far.  Did you buy this gun new?  I wonder if someone installed lighter main spring, or tampered with the original main spring.  I installed a Wolff spring kit in my Taurus M66 and have misfires while shooting double action using Winchester primers and am going to load some ammo using Federal primers but if I continue to have the misfires will have to reinstall the factory main spring.  Have you cleaned the action and lubed it?  How many rounds has been down the barrel?

The only two things that could be wrong are as said above: too light of a main spring or the hammer has too much friction and is catching, or too heavy of a firing pin spring, or the firing pin is catching.

I purchased the gun new. I have not modified it in any way other than a set of Houge grips. I carry mine also; I often wonder if I needed it would it fire?

I definitely wouldn't carry a gun that you have had so many misfires with.

First open it up and check for drag marks.  If you dont see any, call taurus about the warranty.  If they try to give you any run around, replace the main spring with something stiffer.
