Question on Custom Stocks
« on: November 05, 2007, 03:02:10 PM »
I just signed on yesterday and gleaned a great deal already in cruising the forum. In going to a number of the websites that you guys have listed such as; Choates, Gunstocks Inc. etc, I am unable to find the Thumb-hole stocks such as the ones for the Ultra Varminter or the Laminated type for my 17 Sportster. Could use some help in this dept. as they appear to list them as "Specials" but apparently don't have any on stock.

Also, in reading some of the threads in regard to the Survivor (243/22-250), the replies seem to suggest that you can buy the Survivor with the Bull-barrel/Fluted and also convert that using the Thumb-hole type stocks as well? I'm just starting to research what appears to be a number of custom components that are available for the NEF's, but having some trouble drilling down to the actual parts that are available.

Would appreciate any help in these areas.

NEF17,
Welcome!!
The laminated thumbhole stock and forend are made by Boyds for H&R. Unfortunately at this
time the H&R factory is out of them. They told me to check back with them after the first of
the year. They run $122.50 for the set including shipping.
As far as I know the Survivor only comes in 223, 308 and 410/45 Colt. The laminated thumbhole
will fit the Survivor as well as your Sportster.

I believe the fluted barrels are all 24"or more and the niche for the Survivor model is short and handi with survival storage in stock I have these stocks on a couple of mine including 204r 24"fluted 22"bull 223 but you can mix and match most all furniture except the 20ga bull fore arm 10ga and the muzzle loader forarms.
