CZ Bobwhite?

I've been in the market for a good 20 ga. SxS for a while now, and this CZ at the local shop seems to be the ticket. It has all the features that I'm looking for; double triggers, extractors (I hate chasing down hulls), straight grip... It's a great looking gun, and has interchangeable chokes, which I thought was a great bonus, not something you see often on doubles. The other extremely nice feature was the price - I can take 'er home for $700, brand new. The gun is manufactured by Huglu, in Turkey.

Does anyone own or have any experience with CZ/Huglu doubles? How reliable/dependable are they? I'm not a big sporting clays shooter, it won't have to withstand any truly high volume shooting. I'll just be hunting with it, along with occasional range practice. The price tag has me a little worried that this might be one of those "too good to be true" type deals...

I've owned several (.410, 28 and 20) they seem well made guns and worked as they are supposed to. No complaints from here.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but I do have some background info for you. Turkey has many excellent shotgun manufacturers and they take their industry seriously. They offer a combination that is unique in the world today:
1) The will to build and sell sporting shotguns
2) Skilled craftsmen that care about their work
3) Low wages relative to the dollar. This means that the hand-work required is being done by people who care. There are some things that just aren't easy to automate, so they don't automate them. They hire a guy to do it. That's a big advantage vis a vis factories that rely on automation to do all their work.
4) Modern machinery for the tasks that modern machinery does best, like machining receivers.
5) A good track record for quality in recent years.
6) Good relations with the West.

This situation is similar to the rifle manufacturing climate that put CZ on the map several years ago when Czech craftsmen were paid so low for the high quality of the work they did.

If I were in the market for a side-by-side, I'd be taking a strong look at the CZs, but I'd broaden the search to other Turkish makers too.

Good luck. I think this is just one of those times in history where you have to take advantage of the situation if the product is to your liking.

My wife has the Huglu O/U in 20 ga.  It is alot of gun for the money.  She has not had any issues with the gun.
