Can someone help me identify this
« on: October 08, 2007, 07:22:12 PM »
I put this on the general discussion page before I even realized this forum existed.

This belongs to a friend of mine and she would like any information she can get on it. It belonged to her father and he knew very little about it himself.

She can find no marks on it and it shoots a .22 short. I have not seen it first hand so I don't for sure. All I know is it is a neat looking little thing and I want one. I realize that this isn't much to go on but I figure some one can give me some sort of an answer.

Just saw this post.

Are there any markings on the pistol?

Using the sheet of paper for scale it looks to be a shop built pistol based on the trapdoor principal.

Without seeing any marks it is tough to guess anything else.

Springfield made one pistol on the trapdoor action and I would bet others were made by civilian smiths but that is an interesting piece.

Let us know if there are any marks.

There are absolutely no markings on it.

My best guess it that it was made by a private smith. Of course I am about as far from an expert as you can get.
