stock coating?
« on: September 27, 2007, 02:18:54 PM »
I recently purchased a used savage 110 in .308,and when i first saw the rifle,i thought it had a very unusual composite stock, but after i brought it home,i noticed the stock is wood that appears to have been coated.the coating is green and has a very bumpy surface with different colored specks in it,it also feels kinda rubbery, almost like latex pain.has anyone ever heard of this before?

have no idea, ive personally never seen anything like it on a gun before, but now that you mention it,it does seem to be very similar to a a truck bed liner.

Truck bed liner spray is a pretty commonly used aftermarket stock finish.

thanx,i had never heard that before, but it sure makes sense,i am pretty sure the barrel is aftermarket because the only thing stamped on the barrel is the number.308,nothing about being a savage or anything else,so im sure you are correct. thanx again for the info
