S&W SW1911

Thinking about buying a SW1911 blued. What are some pros and cons about this gun? What does the street price run? Is there another 1911 that's better for the same price? BTW this would be my first 1911 owned, but not shot.

One of my shooting buddies bought a short slide Smith 1911 last year.  It is well built and a pleasure to shoot.  The handgun manager in the store he bought it from told us that all the Smith 1911s are made in the Performance Center, and the workmanship on this one tends to bear that out.  Since it was way out of my price range I don't know what other 1911s would be comparable, but I know I like his.
